NAF Certification

NAF is the abbreviation of No Added Formaldehyde-based-resin and does not contain formaldehyde-based adhesive.

This concept was put forward by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) of the United States. Its main purpose is to control the formaldehyde emission of the composite wood product and the harm to human health.

The application for NAF exemption must be for composite wood products, including particleboard, MDF and plywood, produced using resin (glue) without adding formaldehyde. For example, use bean glue, MDI glue, and etc.

According to the requirements of CARB/EPA, the exemption of the above products should be applied for by the manufacturer with the assistance of a third-party certification body, and the exemption period is two years.
